  • A garden consult helps give you a vision and next steps for your future garden.

The consult is helpful for those who:

    • Haven’t gardened before

    • Want ideas for improving an existing garden

    • Want new gardens, especially water-wise, native, or kitchen gardens

    • Have gardening or garden design questions

Prior to the hour-long consult you’ll receive a short questionnaire, so that the consult time can be spent on what matters most. You’ll receive a written summary as a follow-up.

    Price: $75/hour

  • Get to the next level in your garden with access to your own personal expert. This series of three (or more) 1-on-1 coaching sessions is fully tailored to your specific goals. Before the sessions begin, we will use a questionnaire to build a Custom Session Plan unique to you.

    Popular topics include:

    • Garden design & layout

    • Plant selection (including water-wise, edible & native options)

    • Plant care & troubleshooting

    • Growing a kitchen garden (edible plants)

    • Selecting the right tools & supplies

Price: $225 for 3 hour-long sessions, then $60 for additional sessions.

  • Whether you’re looking to transform your entire property or recreate a part of it—like a new kitchen garden or a water-wise front yard—we create designs that address your vision and needs. We specialize in functional, beautiful spaces that thrive in our local climate and support wildlife. This offering includes:

    • Discovery & Site Visit: We start with a questionnaire, followed by an on-site consultation.

    • Concept Design: You’ll receive a preliminary design.

    • Review & Refinement: This is your opportunity to tell us what you love and what you’d like adjusted.

    • The Final Design: You receive the final design plan, including a detailed planting list and materials recommendations.

Price: varies, depending on size of garden/property, planting types and complexity of design and terrain.

  • We can install gardens in a range of sizes, from a simple set of raised beds to larger yard renovations.

We create gardens of all kinds, and specialize in:

    • Water-wise (drought tolerant) and native plants that are adapted to Spokane and thrive with less water.

    • Kitchen gardens, which are typically raised beds with herbs and other edible plants.

Note: if you live in Spokane, we can help you with a SpokaneScape project, where you receive up to $500 in utility credit when you remove lawn and plant water-wise plants.

  • For an hourly rate, we provide maintenance services for the garden. This includes (but is not limited to) pruning, weeding, plant editing and transplanting, de-browning, replanting/planting, raking, additions of compost, mulch or pathway materials.

For services like mowing, leaf-blowing or weed-eating, we can provide recommendations for landscaping services.

  • Fotheringham Gardens can provide and deliver a variety of gardening supplies. These include:

    • Fotheringham Gardens Select Plants: We grow a selection of drought tolerant and native plants, locally.

    • Nursery Plants: We can source a variety of additional plants.

    • Garden Accessories: Raised beds, trellises, edging, and more. We pass on our research and recommendations and arrange for delivery (and installation, if wanted).

More about us:
Our goal is to make it easy for more people to have beautiful gardens. To that end, we offer a range of services and can complete projects of many different sizes—or just provide support and expertise while you get what you need to take your garden to the next level yourself.

Blending English garden styles with water-wise, native and other beautiful plants that thrive in Spokane’s climate, we create gardens that serve humans and nature alike. We also grow our own drought tolerant plants, which can be harder to find in a lot of nurseries.

In addition to perennial gardens, we’ve developed Kitchen Garden designs and a seasonal planting guide specific to Spokane. You can get your own Kitchen Garden and start enjoying food out of your garden, within weeks.

Operating out of the First Fotheringham House, a Victorian-era historic landmark in the Browne’s Addition neighborhood of Spokane, WA, Fotheringham Gardens is owned by Rebecca Monteleone. An avid gardener for more than two decades, Becca received her Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Washington.
